The School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and Indigenous rights. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower- and specialized upper-level courses in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and Indigenous rights, as well as other general management topics. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing specific courses and programming in the areas of integrated business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and indigenous rights, as well as supporting other faculty to integrate these topics into existing courses and programs. Tier 2 Canada Research Chair Position, Social Innovation and Entrepreurship, Simon Frasier University

Together, the Beedie School of Business and Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) are actively building a diverse, welcoming and transformative community and invite applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the newly-emerging diverse and interdisciplinary field of Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship beginning in September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. SFU seeks an exceptional emerging scholar for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with demonstrated potential for leadership and international recognition. SFU requires the successful candidate to have a PhD in a relevant field and applicants should bring an original program of research, a commitment to transfer knowledge, capacity to receive external funding as well as the potential for building successful research teams.

The Chair will take a significant role in furthering the social innovation mandate of SFU, the Beedie School and FHS in research and experiential learning. The Chair will conduct research and guide graduate and undergraduate students in social innovation and entrepreneurship research and practice. Social Innovation in the two faculties refers to strategies and services that address social needs, and include processes and products of innovation that enhance social well-being writ large.

The Chair will be located in either the Beedie School or FHS, or as a joint appointment. This position is contingent upon the applicant receiving a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e. candidates must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination). Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, including maternity leave, extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process. Tier 2 Canada Research Chair Position, Entrepreneurship (SME/SMO), Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières

Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) is calling for applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair dedicated to the study of entrepreneurship and/or SMEs and SMOs. The person sought will complete and strengthen the Institut de Recherche sur les PME [SME Research Institute] (INRPME; http://www.inrpme.ca) team and will make a significant contribution to the development of the Institute’s research topics. All expertise and perspectives regarding the study of entrepreneurship and/or SMEs and SMOs will be considered. Thus, the person sought could be an expert in entrepreneurship and/or SMEs and SMOs with one of the following specializations:

  • A specific theme, such as: entrepreneurial cognition; start-up process; gender, diversity and entrepreneurship; social and sustainable entrepreneurship; entrepreneurial coaching; entrepreneurial education; family entrepreneurship; business transfer; social economy small and medium-sized organizations; high technology SMEs; local and regional development and SMEs-SMOs; etc.
  • A management function: for example, entrepreneurial finance; marketing of SMEs and SMOs; SME-SMO accounting; human resource management in an SME-SMO context; SME-SMO management strategy, performance management within SMEs-SMOs, information system management in an SME-SMO context, etc.

Versatility in research theory and methodology as well as the candidate’s ability to develop fruitful collaborations with other researchers working in the fields of entrepreneurship and/or SMEs and SMOs will be the subject of special attention during assessment of the applications.

Those who have held a Ph.D. for more than 10 years (and whose careers were interrupted because of maternity leave, parental leave or a prolonged medical leave among others) may have their eligibility examined using the Tier 2 Justification Assessment form from the Canada Research Chair Program. Selection process

Each application will first be evaluated by a committee responsible for identifying applicants that adequately meet the University’s selection criteria as well as that of the Canada Research Chair Program. The applications retained will then be submitted to a committee who will ensure that UQTR’s rules and objectives regarding equity, diversity and inclusion matters have been taken into consideration. Since granting of the position is conditional to approval by a University Department, candidates will have to undergo the hiring process for the department before presenting an application to the Canada Research Chair Program. The successful candidate will be invited to present a complete application to the Canada Research Chair Program, and successful Chair recipients will be granted a tenure-track professorial position.

Assistant or Associate Professor position, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Telfer School of Management of the University of Ottawa

The Telfer School of Management of the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management commencing July 1, 2019.

Title of the Position:
Professor in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The rank is commensurate with experience.

Duties:
Duties of a faculty member will include in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities; c) academic service activities; and d) supervision of graduate students.

The candidate is interested and able to teach organizational behavior and/or human resources management at undergraduate and graduate levels; has a track record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals; has a track record of submitting research proposals to external granting agencies (success in receiving funds preferable); has a promising research program aligned with the School’s goal of publishing in internationally respected journals.

Terms:
Tenure-track position.

Salary & Benefits Package:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and typically starts at $115,000 per year at the assistant level. The University of Ottawa provides a comprehensive compensation package, which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa pension plan, optional life insurance and funds for eligible relocation expenses. The School also offers a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.

Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate Position, Operations and Supply Chain Management, TRSM Ryerson University

Area of Research Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position in Operations and Supply Chain Management. The duration of the postdoctoral fellow position is one year with a possibility for renewal for the second year depending on budget availability. The appointee will take part in various research activities in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Operations Research. In addition, the appointee will work with Dr. Hossein Zolfagharinia (Global Management Studies Department), Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University.

Responsibilities The appointee will investigate two different research areas: (1) transportation systems and network configuration with a focus on land transportation, (2) the application of operations management in the healthcare context. The appointee is expected to lead each stage of the investigation (i.e., data collection and analyses, modeling, developing solution algorithms, manuscript preparation, conference presentations, etc.).

Qualifications The applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline before the start date. Research experience in supply chain and logistics management and healthcare operations management is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have strong modeling and computational skills, including but not limited to: 1) optimization under uncertainty (e.g. stochastic programming, robust optimization, chance-constrained programming); 2) familiarity with game theory approaches; 3) Queuing Systems; 4) Dynamic Programming; 5) C/C++/CPLEX programming skills. Excellent written and communication skills are also required. Lastly, priority is given to those who have at least one A* published research article in the ABDC journal quality list.
