Tenured or Advanced Tenure-Track Professor, Management for Sustainability, Desautels Faculty of Management – McGill University

The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University is recruiting a tenured professor in management for sustainability. Assistant Professors with an established record of research excellence through publication in top-tier academic journals and who possess a strong record for teaching and academic service are also invited to apply. Sustainability scholarship is highly diverse and in many cases interdisciplinary. The management for sustainability position at Desautels is therefore open to candidates from all academic areas of management (Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behaviour, Strategy and Organization) as well as from adjacent disciplines (e.g. economics and sociology). While the recruitment process is cross-disciplinary, the successful candidate will be affiliated with a specific functional area. In addition to leading their personal research agenda, the incoming faculty member will lead the Managing for Sustainability programs at the BCom level. They will have the opportunity to collaborate within a vibrant community of students, faculty, alumni and management practitioners. They will energize and infuse their expertise into existing activities while initiating new institutional efforts in sustainability related to teaching, research and outreach. Whereas teaching is done in English, knowledge of French or a willingness to learn French is desirable. The position will begin as early as August 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach 30 credit units (or 10 courses) during the fall, winter, and spring terms. The salary band for this position is $77,613 – $115,245.  

Consistent with AACSB accreditation requirements, the Edwards School of Business seeks individuals whose academic training and/or professional activities clearly align with the AACSB standards.  Candidates must satisfy any one of the following faculty categories:

  1. Practice Academics sustain their currency and relevance through professional engagement and industry interaction.  Besides holding a doctoral degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach, the candidate would have undertaken substantive consulting, linkages to practice, or other forms of professional engagement.
  2. Scholarly Practitioners sustain their currency and relevance through publications in academic or professional journals, text books, or instructional resources, including cases and business simulations.  Candidates would require a graduate degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach and a current CPHR designation.
  3. Instructional Practitioners must have initial academic preparation (including a graduate degree), professional experience and ongoing professional engagement.  Their professional experience at the time of hiring must be significant in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and clearly linked to the field in which the candidate is expected to teach.  For those faculty teaching undergraduate courses, at least three years of full-time work experience would be required.  At least five years of full-time employment experience would be expected for those individuals assigned to teach in graduate programs. Professional engagement activities must be substantive and sustained at levels that support currency and relevance for Edwards’ mission.

Tenure Track Position, Business Analytics, Cape Breton University
