The UFV School of Business invites applications for a 12-month teaching Limited Term Appointment, beginning August 1, 2017, in financial accounting. Located within the Faculty of Professional Studies, the School of Business has some fifteen hundred students enrolled in certificate, diploma, and degree programs. The successful candidate will actively participate in the development and delivery of those programs and engage in academic service activities.

Qualifications
Applicants should have demonstrated proficiency as an instructor and must have a PhD or DBA in accounting or a related discipline, or must be near completion (ABD). Applicants with a relevant Master’s degree might be considered if they possess a minimum of five years relevant and recent industry experience, and a Canadian CPA designation. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of lower- and upper-level courses in financial accounting. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will engage in university and community service, and the promotion of programs offered by the school.

Tenure-Track, Accounting, Lakehead University

The Faculty of Business Administration at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay campus invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Accounting. The appointment will commence on August 1, 2017 at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Position will involve:
(i) An active program of scholarly research;
(ii) A commitment to teaching a range of accounting courses at different levels to undergraduate and graduate students;
(iii) Supervision of Masters students’ research;
(iv) Service to the Faculty and the University;
(v) Participation in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidates will have:
(i) An earned Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting from a school recognized by Canadian universities*.
(ii) A strong research and publication record that includes ranked journals;

*Applicants with a professional accounting designation and an in-progress PhD in accounting or a closely related discipline may be considered.

The School of Business invites applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of financial accounting, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2017. Located within the Faculty of Professional Studies, the School of Business is a teaching-intensive unit with more than fifteen hundred students enrolled in certificate, diploma, degree, and post-degree programs.

The accounting major and certificate are two of several programs offered by the School of Business. The Accounting major provides the necessary prerequisites or required courses for the professional designations of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA). Many of our students become accountants, selecting careers in areas such as banking, insurance, and consulting.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in accounting, including—but not limited to—introductory to advanced financial accounting. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will actively participate in the development and promotion of the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program within UFV and the broader community. Engagement of faculty in university and community service is one of the institution’s three-fold goals of teaching, scholarship and service. It is expected that the successful applicant will actively contribute to UFV and the School of Business, the social, cultural, and economic development of the lower Fraser Valley region, and extra-curricular forms of teaching and learning (e.g., student mentorship, community outreach, etc.).

Applicants must have a PhD or DBA in Accounting or related discipline from a recognized institution, preferably accredited by AACSB or EQUIS, and a CPA designation. Applicants with a relevant Master’s degree from a recognized institution, preferably accredited by AACSB or EQUIS, may be considered if they possess a minimum of five years relevant and recent industry experience, and a Canadian CPA designation. The successful applicant has developed an innovative and effective teaching and learning style that engages the diverse student population at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and aligns with the university’s education plan, demonstrates ability to integrate research into teaching, and is committed to continuing professional development. Applicants with excellent, recent teaching experience in a relevant subject area at the undergraduate level of an accredited university will be given priority.
