Applications are invited for a tenured or tenure-track, chaired faculty position in Finance at the Full or Associate Professor rank with a proposed commencement date of July 1, 2017. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is subject to budgetary approval.
The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) has a history of excellence in financial education and boasts a very impressive cadre of alumni who have attained positions of leadership in public and private sector finance in Canada and worldwide. An outstanding academic program, supporting facilities, and excellent faculty have been the foundation for this success. The Alex Faseruk Chair in Financial Management Education recognizes the contribution of one recently retired member of our outstanding faculty, Dr. Alex Faseruk, a 3M National Teaching Fellow, and is intended to continue and advance this legacy of excellence.
The successful applicant will be an experienced and effective teacher and an accomplished scholar with a national or international reputation for high quality research and teaching. He or she will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and conduct research focused on capital markets, derivatives, investments, or on a related topic. The successful applicant will contribute to both the graduate and undergraduate teaching programs of the FBA, will lead the development of curricular innovation in Finance, will capitalize on the White Trading Lab in the FBA, and will serve as an advisor to the FBA Student Managed Investment Fund. The Chair will be expected to provide mentorship to junior faculty in teaching and research, maintain an active research program, and collaborate with disciplines inside and outside the FBA, including Accounting and Economics.
Applicants must have a PhD and have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research in a university environment. Applicants must have demonstrated research productivity commensurate with the rank of appointment and will be expected to maintain a high level of research productivity. Preference will be given to applicants who are not only recognized as excellent teachers and researchers, but have shown pedagogical leadership. This may include curriculum development, the development of co-curricular supports for financial management education, including experience supporting student clubs and groups, contributions to the scholarship of teaching, the introduction of teaching innovations at the course and program level, student and faculty mentoring, and so on. Graduate student supervisory experience will be an asset.
The Faculty of Business Administration is a leader in management education and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Approximately 1,300 students are registered in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty, with another 200 students completing graduate programs, including a PhD and MSc in Management.
