The School of Business offers a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree with several majors and minors, two-year diploma programs and 1-year certificates. The School currently has a complement of 28 full-time faculty members and an average enrollment of 6,500 students. The School of Business also offers the Bachelor of Business Administration program in Chandigarh, India, a one of a kind Canadian post-secondary institution on Indian soil that offers applied North American curriculum taught by a mix of International and Indian faculty.

UFV’s School of Business invites applicants for the full-time position of Director. This is a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the School of Business with a five-year term as Director.

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies, the Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the School’s operations and leading a dynamic team of staff and faculty members. Working with Area Chairs for each major/discipline in the School, the Director manages curriculum and program development, program management, timetabling, staffing (Including faculty and sessional instructor recruitment), budgeting, educational planning, enrolment management, strategic planning, Chandigarh campus collaboration and community partnership building. 

The Director participates in the administration of the Faculty of Professional Studies through collaboration with the Dean and Associate Dean, and membership on the Professional Studies Heads and Directors Team. Working with a diverse range of students, including Indigenous and International students, the Director also has the responsibility to encourage high-quality teaching, learning, scholarship and service within the School. As a leader, the Director will build and maintain relationships within the School and the University. The Director is responsible for representing the School at the institutional and inter-institutional level, and within the wider external community, as well as Internationally including travel to UFV India in Chandigarh. Participation on institutional committees, service contributions, and ongoing professional development is an expectation. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the School contributes to the fulfillment of UFV’s strategic directions and Education Plan priorities.

Qualifications
Experience and interest in developing entrepreneurial and innovative experiential learning opportunities, including community-student partnerships, internships, study abroad and co-curricular activities is highly desirable. Demonstrable experience in technology-supported learning environments (e.g., hybrid, on-line, experiential, and computer-assisted learning) and innovative inter-disciplinary teaching environments would be an asset. Experience and interest in interdisciplinary and cross-Faculty collaborations is also highly desirable. Awareness regarding the use of evidence-based teaching and accessibility principles to optimize learning for all people (e.g. Universal Design for Learning, Principles of Accessibility) is an asset.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in a business or management-related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution together with five years of relevant business education experience. The successful candidate will have a commitment to Indigenization and a strong track record of: 
• scholarship and teaching experience at an accredited public post-secondary institution;
• successful academic or professional administration experience; and 
• academic program development. 

The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills that include effective communication, planning and program administration, and conflict resolution skills. Experience in managing or supporting a formal program or institution accreditation process would be an asset.

a. Practice Academics sustain their currency and relevance through professional engagement and industry interaction. Besides holding a doctoral degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach, the candidate would have undertaken substantive consulting, linkages to practice, or other forms of professional engagement.

b. Scholarly Practitioners sustain their currency and relevance through publications in academic or professional journals, text books, or instructional resources, including cases and business simulations. Candidates would require a graduate degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach and a current CPHR designation.

c. Instructional Practitioners must have initial academic preparation (including a graduate degree), professional experience and ongoing professional engagement. Their professional experience at the time of hiring must be significant in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and clearly linked to the field in which the candidate is expected to teach. For those faculty teaching undergraduate courses, at least three years of full-time work experience would be required. At least five years of full-time employment experience would be expected for those individuals assigned to teach in graduate programs. Professional engagement activities must be substantive and sustained at levels that support currency and relevance for Edwards’ mission.

About the Role

The Department of Management and Human Resources invites applications for a tenure track position in Human Resources, to commence July 1, 2019, subject to final budgetary approval, at the rank of Assistant Professor. A specialization in the following, or a combination of the following areas, would be ideal: Compensation & Benefits, Organization Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and/or Labour Relations.

At Mount Royal, new faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be actively involved in a research program as well as engaged in service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern (TS) has a focus on scholarly informed teaching and service. Applications from either work pattern will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Course delivery should place a priority on student engagement and includes work such as preparation of course outlines, other course materials, classroom learning activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and course Blackboard site curation.
  • Research: Applicants interested in the TSS work pattern must be committed to a scholarly research program that contributes to both academia and practice. This is evidenced through engagement in both scholarly and professional forums and publications. 
  • Administration: Administer exams, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in course-related meetings, as required.
  • Service: Coach student competition teams, mentor student clubs, assist with the development of curriculum, and serve on departmental or university committees.

  • Teaching experience in human resources at the post-secondary level and the ability to teach introductory through to senior level human resources courses;
  • Proven record of ongoing achievement in research and scholarship;
  • Demonstrated professional human resources experience and expertise;
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or similar (e.g. SHRM), designation will be an asset;
  • Experience with academic indigenization or Indigenous business and/or industry partnership activities will be a strong asset;
  • International experience is an asset.

Tenured or Advanced Tenure-Track Professor, Management for Sustainability, Desautels Faculty of Management – McGill University

The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University is recruiting a tenured professor in management for sustainability. Assistant Professors with an established record of research excellence through publication in top-tier academic journals and who possess a strong record for teaching and academic service are also invited to apply. Sustainability scholarship is highly diverse and in many cases interdisciplinary. In addition to a required relevant graduate degree, a current CPHR designation is an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 30 credit units (or 10 courses) during the fall, winter, and spring terms. The salary band for this position is $77,613 – $115,245.  

Consistent with AACSB accreditation requirements, the Edwards School of Business seeks individuals whose academic training and/or professional activities clearly align with the AACSB standards.  Candidates must satisfy any one of the following faculty categories:

  1. Practice Academics sustain their currency and relevance through professional engagement and industry interaction.  Besides holding a doctoral degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach, the candidate would have undertaken substantive consulting, linkages to practice, or other forms of professional engagement.
  2. Scholarly Practitioners sustain their currency and relevance through publications in academic or professional journals, text books, or instructional resources, including cases and business simulations.  Candidates would require a graduate degree in an academic area clearly linked to the field in which they are expected to teach and a current CPHR designation.
  3. Instructional Practitioners must have initial academic preparation (including a graduate degree), professional experience and ongoing professional engagement.  Their professional experience at the time of hiring must be significant in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and clearly linked to the field in which the candidate is expected to teach.  For those faculty teaching undergraduate courses, at least three years of full-time work experience would be required.  At least five years of full-time employment experience would be expected for those individuals assigned to teach in graduate programs. Professional engagement activities must be substantive and sustained at levels that support currency and relevance for Edwards’ mission.
